One egg, two yolks

My scrambled eggs this morning were extra yellow thanks to the twin yolks from this single egg. First time I've seen that.

Apparently it occurs in roughly 1 in 1,000 eggs. Here is the dual-core oeuf…

One egg, two yolks

2 hours later…

As if that was not odd enough, we just had another double yolk in from 1 egg. They both came from the same box of 6 eggs from Tesco (free range organic). Can anyone explain this?

Twin yolks from one egg (again)

    Hiya Jake! :)

I know of 2 poultry shops in JB that actually sell double-yolk eggs (in trays, mind you)! Apparently, there’s a huge demand for these eggs, especially amongst people who bake (enhances the flavour/texture apparently) & of course, those who just wish to increase their cholestrol level! ;P

The eggs are a bit pricey though, ranging from between RM0.50 to RM1.00 per egg, depending on the grade.Must bring both you and Sophia there the next time you guys are down!

    Hey Gulnaz!

That’s bizarre. How the heck do they breed eggs with two yolks? Or do they use a machine to scan inside the eggs and pick out the one-in-a-thousand with 2 yolks? We need to investigate…
